I started using Sight Reader Read Piano Music this week, and I’m already impressed by both the app and the person behind it. Brett Cameron has been quick to respond to feedback and attentive to practical quality-of-life improvements. In just the few days I’ve been using it, he’s already improved the app twice. The lessons are useful, and the little quizzes along the way help reinforce what I’m learning. Repeated reminders make a real difference when I’m still trying to remember things like where D5 is. It’s rare to see a developer respond so quickly and make it clear that user feedback matters. Sight Reader is already a helpful practice tool, and it’s encouraging to see it getting better through thoughtful updates. I’m looking forward to seeing it continue to grow.

This app has so much more to offer than other “learn to play piano” app. Instead of just teaching you watered down versions of pop songs, it has a structured lesson plans based upon proven ABRSM standards. It has endless generated practice pieces for your level, tons of exercises from renowned authors, scales, chords, thousands of beautiful pieces of music. There is more here than you will find anywhere else. I’ve tried Synthasia, Playground Sessions, Piano Marvel and this is my favorite!

Individual notes are recognised perfectly over a cable connection. Notes can be practised one at a time or in short random pieces, and both are pitched at the grade you’ve already reached. This is an extremely helpful app for sight reading! It’s very easy to navigate and I like the variety of different practice modes. You can follow specific grade-based exercises or explore the extensive library, which adds a lot of flexibility. The virtual inbuilt keyboard is also so handy to use on the go. I wish I’d had this app back when I was doing grades many years ago!

This has been a great app for me just starting out in piano, and unlike other apps I’ve tried. There are lots of ways to practice, including rhythm and graded pieces, and everything is set out nicely.
